Description of Vector VEC240 12-Volt Electric Travel Blanket
Although billed by some as a safety blanket, this 12-volt Vector electric blanket has plenty of other uses. It's a perfect fit for old-style Volkswagen Beetles and their notoriously cranky heating systems. It's terrific for campers who are kicked out of their tents and forced to sleep in the car because their snoring is keeping even the trees awake. And don't forget truck, camper, and RV owners who might want to take a nicely heated nap regardless of the weather outside. The blanket plugs into any 12-volt car cigarette lighter. Alternatively, it plugs into normal 12-volt batteries using a cigarette lighter socket or Vector adapters. The low amperage draw (4 amps) ensures the blanket won't deplete your battery as it heats to its favored temperature of 75 degrees. In addition, the lightweight blanket folds out to a size of 60 by 42 inches. The engine does NOT need to be running to operate this blanket! This blanket only draws 4-6 amps and would not drain battery unless plugged in over a 18 hour period. Could it be possible that what the problem was that her outlet doesnt operate unless the key is in the On position or Accessory position?Also this blanket can be hooked up to a battery with a separate adapter(Radio Shack).In that case I would purchase a deep cycle battery and place in the rear of car.
